From the corners of the country, from Salt Lake City to New Orleans…two female songwriters Ashlee K Thomas and Karen Waldrup left their homes and followed their hearts to Nashville, TN. Karen and Ashlee met when they found themselves playing the same room in Nashville. It started naturally and began as a co-writing and touring partnership. In their first year of touring together, they played over 220 live shows across the US. Although the girls are from very different parts of the country, they had so much in common that they seemed to be more like sisters. Both ladies received music scholarships to college; Ashlee to Utah Valley University, and Karen to The University of Southern Mississippi. Ashlee has shared the stage with The Wailers, Beat Antiques, Alana Davis, and Michael Franti & Spearhead. Like Ashlee, crafting songs and performing live is what makes southern belle Karen Waldrup tick. Her musical journey has taken her from writing songs in her home to being featured as a songwriter on Bravo TV's 'Platinum Hit' with Jewel and Kara Diaguardi in 2011. She has shared the stage with stars Rodney Atkins, Sara Evans, Terri Clark, Hank Williams Jr. and Joe Diffie. What started as a month long tour in Sept. 2011, never really stopped. The duo has played shows including: Desert Rocks Music Festival, The Madisonville Wooden Boat Festival, Frank Brown Songwriters Festival, May Fest, The Florabama, The Iron Man Banquet 2012, March of Dimes Signature Chef Event, The LA Songwriters Festival, The Country Music Marathon, The Slugburger Festival and Nashville's world famous Bluebird Cafe. Due to their unique perspectives, they are constantly growing musically. Their live performance is an interactive experience with a blend of harmonies and folk country instrumentation. Unique indeed, the girls combine violin, guitar, mandolin, harmonica and two God-given voices. Their sound has been described as the Dixie Chicks meets Alanis Morrisette. However, their captivating show and musical chemistry can be best experienced at a live show. Catch them if you can, they are always on the road again.
