"Boston based rock band quartet, Twenty Past Two, plays popular rock covers of the 80's, 90's through today while mixing in their own catchy, heartfelt original songs that will keep you moving till Twenty Past Two am."
The bands founder, singer/songwriter/guitarist, Joe Sorrentino, started writing songs back when he was in high school in the early nineties. Throughout his college years he formed a band called Soulacious, which won the All State College Battle of the Bands in 2000. With a new band line up in 2009, he formed a new band called Central Ave, named after the street in Needham MA, where he lives and also where the band rehearses. In 2013 and another band line up four years later, he re-named the band Twenty Past Two. The new band name pays tribute to dedicated music fans who stay up all night at any Boston venue which closes at 2am and then willing to wait in line for late night munchies afterwards at Twenty Past Two in the morning. Sorrentino feels the new band name describes how he spent many of his nights during his college years. With 20 years experience writing songs and performing in front of people, Sorrentino feels he knows what it takes to succeed in the music industry and he aims to give back to the community through music. He draws inspiration from artists ranging from Tom Petty and The Black Crowes to Alice in Chains and Stone Temple Pilots and the list goes on and on.
Lead guitarist, Lesly Bueno joined the band in 2010 and has been playing guitar for as long as he can remember. Bueno comes from the Dominican Republic and currently resides in Peabody MA. His influences range from Dream Theater and Pink Floyd to Steve Vai and Santana.
Drummer & Percussionist, gK Hynes joined the band in late 2011. gK has been playing drums for 26 years & has played in many superb bands over the years including The Nubbish, The Leeds Society and Noise Factory. His style is straight forward rock with tilt to pop style music. gK draws inspiration from drummers such as Neil Peart, Chad Sexton and Mark Brzezicki. gK currently resides in Braintree, MA.
Bassist, Jim Barry has been playing bass for over 25 years. He started out as a lead guitar player in a band called Rampage, a Hudson,MA. based band he formed in High school. Later on in his career he switched to bass, forming the club band Early Warning, from Marshfield,MA. backing bands such as Marshall Tucker, Foghat, Physical Graffetti, Southbound, and several other great acts. Five years later after a band member change, he reformed a new band called Too Loose, based out of Rockland,MA. which lasted for 3 years. Some of the other bands he played in afterwards include Device and Wiskey Station. Jim Barry is orignally from Hudson,MA and presently lives in Upton, MA but is moving to Marlboro, MA. where he plans to stay for the next 3 years until he graduates Law School. Joining Twenty Past Two in 2013, as their newest member, his goals are to play as many songs in as many clubs as possible until his fingers bleed. He hopes Twenty Past Two will be the last band of his career and has high hopes on kickin with his band mates for 20 plus years. He never wants to stop playing and he loves all music from his roots in metal, to his easy listening styles of the new millenium. His influences include Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Jeff Beck, Aerosmith, and the list goes on and on. He wants everyone to feel the power of Twenty Past Two.
