"I spent most of my life in very small towns and rural areas in Virginia and New Mexico, and I now live in the city of Austin, Texas.
I play songs about the journey upstream and the search for safe passage through wild country. Songs that are rooted in place, sorrow, loss, disconnection, isolation, irony, the west, and the tradition of folk music. Songs for the desperate, the left behind, and the just plain lost. Songs for the great land that bred us, and for the sacred sights and people of this country.
In the tradition of everyone from Skip James to Bob Dylan to Nick Cave to The Felice Brothers to Dock Boggs to Leonard Cohen, and on and on…..I take part in the passing on of stories, the seeking of the depths, and the search for freedom along the great highways and on the rushing rivers."
