Neo•Blues /noun/ a fusion of funk & jazz with established roots in the
Neo-blues is a redefined genre of music paying homage to its blues beginning and
at the same time introducing blues to a funky hip hop soul generation. As the
first neo-blues band, The Radio Blue takes you on a journey from its reggae
interpretation of Gershwin’s "Summertime” or staying true to the origins of blues with
the classic "Stormy Monday.” The Radio Blue takes all of the main ingredients of the blues
and interprets them for a new generation of listeners . . . some who even say they didn't
really dig the blues ‘til they heard The Radio Blue.
The Radio Blue is all about the story.
“Our songs have a story to tell, and isn’t that what the blues are all about?”
-Kamilah, The Radio Blue’s vocalist & songwriter
Whether the story is about a vision of your soulmate in "Dejavu,” or the perfect
imperfections of love with "U Did," or the heart-felt social commentary of "Tears,"
there is no story off-limits to The Radio Blue. The Radio Blue’s Storytelling Songstress
Kamilah prides herself on writing the songs that allow her to be vulnerable to the
listener, reaching not just their hearts but their souls:
"If you don't see yourself in the songs I sing then I'm not doing my job. When I hold
the mic and tell the story I'm giving a voice to the voiceless who couldn't quite find the
words to express themselves. When I step off stage I am exhausted. I like to call my self
a VERY generous performer and I love when people, men and women alike, come to
me and say “Wow! I can feel every word you say!" I'm so grateful to the creator for the
inspiration - I have a duty to share what I receive and it doesn't hurt that I LOVE IT!”
The Radio Blue has redefined the idea of "feeling blue." Their syle of blues is a vast
ocean of possibilities. Neo-blues is a clear sky and a refreshing glass of water after a
hard day’s work . . . the baptismal pool for the soul. So turn the dial on The Radio Blue
and they’ll take you where ever you wanna go.
