Native son of Orange County, Reed McMillan is a quiet character. Writing short songs of love and lust, filled with insight and bluesy guitar, you won’t know whether to think or shake till it hurts.
Starting at age 11, Reed decided to turn the guitar into his primary means of expression. Self taught and displaying a unique quality of touch, he played with local bands shortly after learning the instrument. Following years of playing in numerous bands, Reed felt it necessary to strike out on his own; burning through several incarnations of his group. Never satisfied and always pushing for some- thing new, he began writing his own material. Drawn from everything he heard during his years work- ing at a used music store, he assembled a distinctive sound that has a familiar soul but a one of a kind voice.
Still pushing, Reed has done away with his band members in order to pursue a free flowing musical experience. Unchained, his improvisations with both with his music and his on stage banter keep his fans on their toes. Which way he will go next week, we will never know, but it is a ride always worth taking.
