…forged out of the wreckage of the Last Train Band, the Colony gathered after an influential time in Austin Texas(home to the largest urban bat colony in the world). A strong affinity with the alt/country scene found there saw, the soon to be UBC, take a sideways step from their more rock oriented leanings, quickly producing several demos which over the space of some months turned into a full blown cd project.
This year saw the release of Urban Bat Colony’s first album “Northern Rain”
A regular performer on the acoustic/roots scene and an established singer songwriter in his own right, Adrian brings a melodic touch to the guitar playing for the Bat Colony. He has worked as a professional guitarist and teacher for 20 years, writing and collaborating with musicians spanning many genres and styles.
A prime mover in all aspects of the Colony. Of the philosophy “if I’m not tapping my foot, then why should anybody else? Ainsley drives the Colony forward. Weaned on classic rock, Ainsley’s guitar playing brings an edge while his Bat like hearing, enthusiasm for the music and attention to detail are of great benefit to the production of every track!
A stalwart on the pro scene, Terry’s cv reads like a musical almanac. Having played with every man and his dog, recorded countless sessions and toured the world, his overall pro experience is a great leveller in the bat colony; coupled with a ridiculous sense of humour that makes him a joy to work with.
Went down to the Crossroads…and decided to take his own path(the devil didn’t know what a lap steel was!). Ray’s passionate song writing and deft slide work are the driving forces behind the Urban Bat Colony. A talented multi-instrumentalist Ray has been known to stumble into jazz territory, though his twisted roots of blues, country, rock and Americana are evident throughout - always with a twist!
