Mordant were formed on December 1997 from :
Chris Manidakis(Guitars), Angelos Hamilakis(Vocals), Kostas Akritidis(Bass), Giannis Kapetanidis(Drums), Tsompanidis Theodore(Guitars). Under this line-up Mordant recorded the 1st demo tape “Meaningless Existence” containing two songs on May 1998. This demo was only for combilations and received some good critics.
After some live performances and changes in the line-up Mordant recorded their 2nd demo “As Flowers Wither” on April 1999 with 5 songs. This demo was recorded under the following line-up : Chris Manidakis(Guitars), Giannis Kapetanidis(Drums), Dimitris Avramidis(Bass), Makis Manasis(Vocals).
Live performances and receiving good critics from metal magazines such as Metal Hammer and Metal Invader and many zines around the world helped the band and many people start to take Mordant more seriously.
After two years Mordant returned to studios to record the 1st full length CD titled What Time Can’t Touch containing 9 songs completely different from all their previous works. The recording lasted nearly 2 months and it finished on February 2002 with Chris Manidakis(Guitars/Bass), Makis Manasis(Vocals), Antonis Vafiadis(Drums),9 powerefull songs compinining speed with aggressive melodies receive good critics from many magazines make Mordant to try harder and if possible to record their songs under the name of a label. Then Kostas Doukopoulos(guitars) join the band in 2002 and many live performances with local bands such as Kvazar, Koronzon, Drunkard, Dustynation and others take place the same year. Antonis Vafiadis in 2003 forced to leave the band after arguing with the rest of the members, since then Mordant found many good drummers but none unfortunately that can handle and play the new songs that Mordant have already created.
