Natasha Roldan / Bio

Natasha Roldán is a Singer/Songwriter/Composer whose vocals draw from the influences of Jazz and traditional Latin American and European Music, integrating a unique blend of Soul and R&B.

Early in her career, she was an active participant in the Colombian Jazz scene, and performed in vocal competitions with success. Natasha started her career as a professional musician in 2005 attending Escuela de Música y Audio Fernando Sor in Bogotá, Colombia. She has been mentored by professional musicians from all over the world, participating in workshops, master classes, and private lessons. (see list in natasharoldan.com)

Having relocated to Toronto, Natasha graduated with honours from the exclusive Music Production Program at Seneca College, in which she composed, recorded, and produced her first single “No Apologies.” This single is part of the IMPXVII Album released on January 2012.

Natasha is now a Music Major in the Faculty of Fine Arts at York University and continues to perform in venues and festivals around town with her solo act and Jazz Duo. Such events include, The WinterFolk Festival and The Ontario Colleges Premiers Awards, as well as venues like The Rivoli and El Mocambo among others. Natasha also performs with several York University music ensembles.

With amazing new compositions and hard work, this independent artist promises to shake the international music scene adding her unique style to the local flavour.

Thanks to her unique sound, originality, and ability to sing in different languages (Spanish, English, French and Portuguese) Natasha was recently chosen to be a featured performer for the TEDxYorkU conference held on March 2013.
