Chambliss’ is a soulful singer with a powerful voice. One who can usher in the presents of the Lord and saturate a room with worship. Denise Chambliss p/k/a Chambliss’ has been singing the majority of her life and has now released her debut project “VIRTUOUS”!
Hailing from Baltimore Maryland, Chambliss’ is a woman on a mission in advancing the kingdom of God through her music ministry. Falling in love with Jesus and developing a strong relationship with Him, is something she does not take for granted. The song that best describes her testimony is the old hymn “I Know I’ve been Changed” which she sings beautifully and has became her signature.
Chambliss’ started singing at the age of 11. She was raised by her mother in a single parent home, who worked three jobs to provide for her family. Being the oldest of eight children assisting her mother in raising her siblings was a role she inherited. Music quickly became her outlet; her release. She used music to mask the pain that she suffered from her childhood. She remembers her brothers and sisters being her first vocal coaches. Yelling and screaming at them helped her to develop her octave and range.
She began to listen to the Jackson Five, the Staple Singers, Chaka Khan and Patti Labelle and she would mimic their acts. To her surprise she quickly discovered she was good at it and that she had an amazing voice. Chambliss’ was the first African American female to be a part of the St Francis Catholic Choir and to sing in the women’s chorus for over fourteen years
In the late 80’s Chambliss’ committed her life to Christ. She began to sing R & B (Rhythm and Blues) on the side to supplement her income. In 1999 she suffered a stroke that left her with short term memory loss. She made a vow to God that she would be steadfast and today she is “Souled Out “for Kingdom. Married to a Pastor Jacob Chambliss, her ministry goes beyond the four walls of the church. Together they strive to be the church.
Chambliss’ is currently signed to Shekinah Records. She has shared the stage with many gospel greats such as, the Clark Sisters, Vickie Winans, Marvin Sapp, the Whispers and Yolanda Adams just to name a few.
She is the perfect exemplarily that your gifts will make room for you and God will keep you if you want to be kept.
