True Story is a dynamic trio that packs dance floors at live performances with soulful vocals, hip-hop lyrics and rocking grooves that break genres. This is roots music. With live drumbeats hip-hop producers wish they can sample, True Story’s songs feature high-energy instrumentation that can range from soul, to blues, to psychedelic rock, to acid jazz.
Philadelphia drummer, Aaron Fulton, plays the drum kit like the beat machine NASA would make, if they ever wanted to get into the music business.
“We’re about,” comments Brooklyn-born keyboardist, Ryan Duffy, “freedom of expression, honesty and authenticity. All that, and getting people on the dance floor” An accomplished keyboardist, Ryan studied music composition, classical, and jazz at Lincoln Center, NYC. With a dizzying left hand, Ryan holds down bass keys while delivering rhymes with a flow used to show hip-hop as a means to inspiration.
California native, Dave Elberg joined True Story, adding his vocals, rhythm and lead guitar over Ryan’s smooth keyboard changes. With a gentle tenor voice, Dave invigorates audiences. When his guitar takes the lead, he brings out the band’s rock colors, slashing through riffs.
