Manny the Martyr is an original 5 piece rock/alternative band from Dallas, TX. The band has become known for their incredibly energetic live shows and their fusion of rock/alternative with reggae, punk, ska, funk and metal.
Manny the Martyr originally formed in late 2011 to be a cover band by Mikey Ubben (Fireal, Cultura,The Effinays) on lead guitar, Jayson Vaughn (Mad Maurice, Cultura) on bass, Brad Green (Fireal, Cultura, The Effinays) on rhythm guitar, Joel Simka (Redshift, Cultura, The Effinays) on percussion, and Ed Chaney (Somsara, Cultura, Dead Flowers) on drum kit.
As the months progressed into this musical experiment, it became evident that writing original music had become the band's true passion. Realizing that their hearts were no longer set to play other people's music, they decided to change direction all together in 2012.
Jake Cravens answered an online wanted ad for a vocalist and came audition for the band in mid 2012. The chemistry was instant and he was asked to join the band as the lead singer.
In late 2012, Ed Chaney decided to part ways resulting in Joel Simka replacing him behind the drum kit. Thus, Manny the Martyr was officially born.
Manny the Martyr played their first gig on Jan 2013 at The Lounge and received great reception. They were immediately asked back the same night! The band puts on an extremely amazing live show with incredible stage presence and crowd control; commonly jumping and dancing all around the stage as they play. To be at a Manny the Martyr show is truly a delight for both one's eyes and ears!
Manny the Marty has been making waves and gaining buzz in the local DFW music scene since day one. Manny the Martyr has shared the stage with national touring acts such as Reel Big Fish!
In Jan 2014, Manny the Martyr released their debut full length album, "Brighter Sun". This 11 track album is available for purchase on iTunes, Google Play, Amazon MP3, Spotify, and all online stores!
