Born in the Flatlands of the South, Billy Hill plays a variety of music based on his childhood heroes and current favorites, as well as original tunes.
A guitarist by nature, he accidentally discovered his true love the mandolin when playing for the seminal Los Angeles jug/juke band the Jug Or Nots, of which he was a founding member in 2009 and went by the moniker of "OD".
He has also been know to lay down some drum beats when there is no one better around, and plays a mean kazoo, though his lifelong dream is to learn all the basic bluegrass instruments—banjo, fiddle, guitar, bass, mandolin. As such, he is part way there and his desire to learn from anyone who will share their knowledge with him ensures that he will one day succeed.
Billy counts many musicians as inspiration including Townes Van Zandt, Gillian Welch and David Rawllings, Jack White, Pete Townshend, Johnny Cash, Jimi Hendrix, Peter Gabriel, Jerry Garcia, Neil Peart and countless others who have engaged his cortex with their music and words.
Currently residing in the West San Fernando Valley, Billy is available to play at your next party, or just come out to gig and have some good old fun.
