Originally from Massachusetts (USA), vocalist/pianist Joey Green moved to New York City in 1985, writing, recording and performing in various New York City Clubs including; The Bitter End, Kenny’s Castaways, The Village Gate, China Club and CBGB’s.
Joey Green has worked with bassist Brian Stanley, (Garland Jeffreys), Drummer Stever Holly (Wings) bassist Paul Page, (Ian Hunter) and keyboardist Tommy Mandel. (Bryan Adams) In 2000, Joey married and emigrated to Vienna where he eventually founded RayVille---a band dedicated to the early music of Ray Charles and The Atlantic Records family.
In 2011, Joey founded The Joey Green Quartett. This ensemble was specifically created to reintroduce the early music of both Nat King Cole and Ray Charles to a contemporary audience. With a sometimes smooth and yet at times smokey voice, Joey Green captures succintly the nuances, verve and humor that this genre of music often conveys. The Joey Green Quartett’s first CD, captured live at Ö1 Radio Cafe, is scheduled for release in November 2013, on the Styx Record Label. (STYX CD 1061)
