I was born in a Southern African country called Zimbabwe, to Mozambican parents who I believe passed on some musical influence to me! My mama used to sing most of the times while doing chores around the house! We also used to sit together as family and go through the Hymn book, each one picking their favourite songs. My favourite Hymn of all time is "I am Thine O Lord". I grew up with music all around! I used to listen and sing along to a wide variety of artists Christian and secular. At some point, I put together a marching band consisting of a bunch of local kids, boys who also liked music or just for the fun of it.We would march around the block banging on metal and plastic cans, anything that could make music!
I also put up a one man band made out of makeshift instruments, anything that could produce sound, empty bottles, cans, wooden boxes, home made 4 string guitar, I was creative, and I would jam all day under the Guava tree, which was behind our house! Man I had fun, wasn't shy, passers-by would stop fro a few minutes to enjoy a tune or two, and they would leave with a smile on their face! After the Guava Tree Jam, the show will continue while doing household chores or taking a shower! You should have heard me singing to the likes of Lucky Dube, he was a favorite!
Sometimes we would dance to some Rhumba music, to entertain ourselves, I still have a few moves!
Poetry also plays a large part in my music, I was a member of a drama and poetry club at school which I loved passionately to the extend I got animated whenever I opened my mouth to talk! I have also written a few poems which I haven't published yet, maybe someday.
When I became a teenager, l joined the local Baptist Church choir! I used to love the annual church competitions.
Together with a few other other music lovers, we put together a group called NLP (New Life and Purpose) later renamed DMH (Disciples of the Most High), we used to sing mostly at youth functions and at our local church.
l loves music so much I have music in the bathroom, in the kitchen, at work, while sleeping, anytime I find myself alone I got my music on!
My musicaI inspiration is Biblically based and from therein I write to daily regular life experiences. My first song "My Soul" was inspired in a dream. After my nightly devotion one night while sleeping I had a dream someone gave me a new song and showed me the chords to it. As soon as I awoke, I went to church to work on the song on the piano and behold it was a beautiful song!.
The rest of the songs on my debut album were inspired while doing regular daily activities. One time while driving behind a delivery truck, I saw a notice on the truck that read "safety is my goal" and from there was inspired to write a rhyme called " God's Glory is My Goal" which has become the intro to the album.
Besides music, I also like to read a lot of non-fictional Christian material - I just like stuff I can benefit from! I also write a little, you know small articles and rhymes! I am a born again Bible believing Christian and I'm just thrilled to use music to glorify my God.
On my debut CD a variety of genres like Reggae, Techno, Afro, Hip Hop etc. are featured. There is also some humor in there! It's the "Gospel in the Music" that I would like people to catch and I believe you shall be drawn closer to the Lord Jesus Christ in one way or the other.I would like to encourage believers to pay attention to the lyrical content of a song more than the "beat" I used to listen to secular music because it had a nice beat to it, but I tell you music can influence you in some way! I choose to feed my soul with stuff that's beneficial, stuff that keeps me connected to the Lord! Like Paul, I apply the liberating truth that's found in 1 Corinthians 6:12 which says, "Everything is permissible to me but not everything is BENEFICIAL...".So I would like to know that if Jesus was to check out my playlist he won't find anything shameful, or profane, or even blasphemous just because I like the "beat" the genre or the artist.
After you've obtained your own copy of my CD (I believe there's a song or two for everyone :) ), I would be glad to hear from you! I appreciate you stopping by! Be Blessed!
