Rapper Chase Hiam grew up in Washington State listening to Grunge and Punk Rock. With his gritty vocals and often straight to the point lyrics it's obvious that that style of music has influenced him and given him his own sound. While he can have a raw untamed sound, he also has a softer side to his voice. In certain songs such as "Wounds" and "No Answers" he actually is playing the guitar and rapping at the same time. He became interested in rap after a band he sang and played guitar for, broke up. He says he raps because "there is a certain freedom that rap gives you lyrically. You can say things up-front that you have to shroud behind mystery in other genres."
