Ira Smith is an up and coming Singer/Songwriter. You may have seen a video two of his on YouTube! Ira has been singing since the age of 4, writing music since the age of 10, and playing piano since the age of 16. Throughout the years, Ira has gained a positive and outgoing attitude about life and the optimism and strength to succeed in everything he tries. He lives and breathes music.
It all started in 2009, with a cover of “U Got It Bad”, originally by Usher uploaded to YouTube! That gained over 600 views in a matter of week, since then has gained over 1,400 views. Ira has continued to make and upload videos. Also in 2009, Ira became a part of an AsWeChangeTheNight which wrote, recorded, and produced all of its own music with Jesus Encino. During this time, Ira was singing regularly in his church choir, performing with AWCTN, and writing music for himself.
In 2010, Ira continued to grow as a singer-songwriter and continued to make YouTube videos. In the summer of the same year, Ira audition for the 10 season of American Idol with “Incomplete”, originally by Sisqo of Dru Hill, and did not continue on after the first round. After “IDOL”, Ira was devastated because “American Idol” was his first big audition ever. After an hiatus from AWCTN, Ira and Jesus began to work on an EP. The EP was never released to the public. Ira uploaded his cover of “What are Words” by Chris Medina, an American Idol Semi-Finalist, and it gained over 1,000 in a matter of week and was watched over 900 times in Finland Alone.
In Spring 2011, Ira began attending San Diego Job Corps. He completed his trade of Hotel & Lodging in May of 2012. While attending SDJC, Ira started writing music again as a way to cope with the pressures and stress of being a Job Corps student. AWCTN called it quits for the second and final time. In the summer of 2011, Ira audition for American Idol Season 11 in San Diego, his hometown and didn’t make past the first round for a second time. In November of that same year, Ira began recording new material. The first song that he recorded was “Same Story”. The song is about being a series of relationships that somehow manifest as the same as the previous relationship. Ira has no intention of writing a love song, but it worked.
Now being 2012, Ira is ready to work even harder than he has before. His debut single, “Same Story” will be released on iTunes, and more on November 30, 2012 for only 99 cents.
