With huge determination and a clear vision of what he wants, P!TRE pronounced (P-Tree) hopes to transcend from a local rapper/singer music artist to an international phenomenon using melodic beats and clever word play. Windell Pitre born April 16 in Beaumont, TX grew up on the city’s south side (South Park) with his father a heavy equipment operator at a local refinery and his mother an in home care giver for the disabled and mentally challenged. Pitre began writing music and singing at age 8. Living in a music filled house hold he always knew that music was his passion and remembers listening to artist such as Marvin Gaye, The Isley Brothers, Bob Marley, Isaac Hayes, and Smokie Robinson. His cousin an R&B artist was an early influence in his life and gave him the inspiration to pursue a career in music.
It wasn’t until October 2011 when his grandfather passed away that he decided to start recording music again but only this time he was going to do it his way. He stated, “I wasn’t going to start recording music again unless I had my own studio recording equipment to make music on my own time and put in the work that’s needed in order to create a quality product”.
After a seven year hiatus from music, Pitre is back and here to stay. The gifted music artist wrote, recorded, mixed and mastered his first full length much anticipated album entitled, If This World Was Mine which is a blend of hip hop, neo soul, and sounds of electronica all in one. Film director Joe Elmore says, “If you like hot lyrics and nice beats If This World Was Mine will definitely satisfy your taste. All of who Pitre is and what he has experienced comes out in his music and I’m excited to see what else he’s going to do.” If This World Was Mine encompasses 15 songs that cover a wide range of topics such as life struggles, relationships, self-realization, and relishing night life.
The first single “I’m Down”, is set to hit the air late November 2012. Pitre describes “I’m Down”, a song to the ladies for the ladies is telling women that there are some good men in the world that understand what you been through and what you going through. Pitre’s focus was creating a full album that is the result of where he’s been and where he’s going, and one that is sure to get him the notoriety that is deserved by the depth and quality of his songs. Pitre is determined to not just be another face on a cd cover, but to wow his audience every chance he gets with creative new music and love for the art.
