By the age of thirteen Renee Olstead had already amassed a list of credits that could prompt an envious reaction from nearly any adult. Simultaneously starring in her first network series, ‘Still Standing’ and signing a record deal with Warner Bros. Records under the care and guidance of 16-time Grammy winning producer David Foster, Olstead began touring the world and capturing the attention of an international audience. Renee’s recording career went off with a bang after winning the acclaim of both cynical jazz critics, as well as international personalities, such as Oprah Winfrey. Renee’s first album reached #1 on the Billboard jazz charts and only paved the way for her second critically acclaimed album ‘Skylark’ , which showcased not only her unique vocal talent but her skills as a budding songwriter. Performing and recording alongside jazz legends such as Billy Childs, John Clayton, Vinnie Colaiuta, Wynton Marsalis, Renee has graced the stage at international musical festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Fest (Switzerland), Java Jazz Fest (Indonesia), Montreal Jazz Fest (Canada), Playboy Jazz Fest (USA), and perhaps the greatest musical event of our lifetime, LIVE 8 (Germany).
Now at the age of twenty-three, Olstead splits her time starring in ABCFamily’s hit show ‘The Secret Life of the American Teenager’, writing for the Huffington Post and Buzzmedia, as well as preparing for the release of her first independent EP, due out this winter.
