Chris Baron / Bio

Hello, thanks for stopping by. Over the past decade, I layered many sandwiches. I have suggested many reheating temperatures, and timings. Also, I have collaborated in eight very different musical projects, finished about twenty recording projects, and hopped on stages.

Now, if only it were football season again. In the meantime, I think I will promote Light Up The Sky (summer 2014), and Live @ White Eagle (October 2014, Portland Oregon). Also, I hope to release a new album in 2016.

If you'd like to listen further, search for me on CDBABY.com, I-tunes, or Amazon.com. In the meantime, the tracks that you can stream on the main page of this site (to the right, to the right...) will be commented on below.
"The Medicine Man" - this track was recorded with Dusty Beats and Joe Bass, and again mixed down and layered by Ryan and I. This was an easy one...one live take for the band, and then some simple layering! And best of all...this is the official Light Up The Sky mix, in all its finality. Enjoy!
"The Beacon" - this version was recorded live @ the White Eagle in Portland Oregon, on October 9th 2014, courtesy of house soundman Chris Heinzelmann. I took the raw recordings, mixed it down, and have copies of this live album at my shows (12 songs). Just a live solo recording...and someday, I hope to record a rockin' studio version.
"She Calls My Name (Forever)" - this is the Huge Sally version. The album version (self-title, 2012). The featured band is Searchlights, or, Joe Bass and Dusty Beats. It was recorded by Ryan Ferris at his studio in NE Portland OR, and we mixed it: he and I. Of course, what makes this recording for me is the dark and smokey guest vocals and lead guitar by Jake Riggs. The accompanying video (buried in the "Video" section of this page) was shot at Macadam's Bar & Grill in SW Portland OR in August 2012. Huge Sally Lives...we hit our Decade Mark in 2016! This audio version is NOT on the Light Up The Sky album...BUT...another version is. So THERE.
"Good Fortune" - This is the version from the album 'Light Up The Sky' (2014). I usually play this song live...and this recording is special to me because I got to play ALL the instruments! That's right. Wait for that drum fill...wait for it...track mixed by Ryan Ferris.
"Do You Ever Feel Like You Left Somethin' Burnin'?" - Before A Crab's Life made a studio recording of this song for our debut album (self-titled, 2012), I made this demo version with the idea that I'd have a local rapper named Jake Buffy come up with something for the middle sections. That collaboration never ended up happening, but I still think this demo came out pretty cool-sounding. The other vocalist on here is Portland phenomenon singer Dors Ward.
Thank you for checking out my solo page! My collaborative stuff is probably interesting too. To find out about those, use your favorite search engine to seek out: Huge Sally (folk'n blues); A Crab's Life (nautical alternative rock); Idiot SCIENCE (funk-metal); The Tummybuckles (sweet folk-rock); or any NEWEST SIDE PROJECT as I announce underground shows on this website or www.searchlightsinmexico.com.
