As of February 2014, it is literally done. "Searchlights In Mexico" was released independently in 2008. Her sequel is anxious. All I need to do is plan a Release Show. In the meantime, a few tracks will be commented on below.
"Pour Me Oakshire" - this is the studio demo version, featuring Dors Ward with additional vocals. This version was recorded by Russ Rochambeau at his Bad!Austin Studios in SE Portland, and mixed by the two of us. The accompanying video was filmed by K8nPdx. Find her channel on YouTube! This song will NOT be on the album. I just put it up on here for fun.
"Bit More Sense" - this is the studio cut from the album 'Searchlights In Mexico'. It features Arcellus Sykes on bass, I did the rest, and mixed it with local Jackpot Studios engineer Kendra Lynn. So again, not on the album. Ha!
"She Calls My Name (Forever)" - this is the Huge Sally version. The featured band is Searchlights, or, Joe Bass and Dusty Beats. It was recorded by Ryan Ferris at his studio in NE Portland OR, and we mixed it, he and I. Of course, what makes this recording for me is the dark and smokey guest vocals and lead guitar by Jake Riggs. The accompanying video was shot at Macadam's Bar & Grill in SW Portland OR in August 2012. Huge Sally Lives! This version is NOT on the album, BUT another version is. So THERE.
"This Must Be Artichoke" - Artichoke Music on Hawthorne Boulevard invites songwriters to perform on their stage to a packed house every Friday night. They inspire community and encourage musicians unlike any organization I've ever seen. I wrote this song for them, and recorded it for their second-ever Artichoke Compilation CD, which was formally released on October 6th 2012 at Alberta Rose Theater in Portland. I used ProTools and a macbook Air, with ProTools 7.2, for the whole process. Megan Cronin of The Tummybuckles performed the violin and some backup singing. Dan Rhiger mixed a few things here and there and mastered the track. Kris Farm mixed a few things here and there from his home studio in Los Angeles. My thanks to them for helping make this such an epic track! For my album, I will make a few minor adjustments. Those will be a surprise. Until then, enjoy this.
"The Medicine Man" - this track was recorded with Dusty Beats and Joe Bass, and again mixed down and layered by Ryan and I. This was an easy one...one live take for the band, and then some simple layering! And best of all...this is the mix that will be on the album. Enjoy!
