An eclectic blend of sounds.
I've always been musical and I've been singing ever since I can remember. Did the band and choir thing in school, participated in local talent shows (and won some!), sang the National anthem at local events (still do), the occasional karaoke, etc. 3 years ago I learned how to accompany myself on guitar and and then ukulele and now I'm more involved in music then ever! Besides performing by myself, I also am in a few other bands:
The Banned, an acoustic rock duo comprised of Samantha and multi-instrumentalist Jared Thomas. Their performance spans multiple genres and pleases even the most diverse of crowds. With versatile vocals and a groove inspiring rhythm section, The Banned is unlike any musical collaboration you have witnessed thus far.
The Recliners: Rock/Classic Rock playing the first Thursday of the month at Dirty Ehrma's Cornerside Tavern in Brookville. Comprised of John Eric McNeil on lead guitar/vox, Gary Bickerstaff on bass/vox, Jared Thomas on drums, and Samantha on vox. Occassionly Bill Hubauer joins in on keys.
Diamonds in the Rough: The best of country music featuring the championship fiddling of Kim, four vocal styles that cover classic to pop country artists. Comprised of Kim Thomas:, Rod Thomas, Jared Thomas, Blaine Carr, Jim Thompson, Denny Custer, Sam Sears and Bill Beer
My musical influences are many, including - but not limited to - rock, alternative, oldies, folk, funk, blues, r&b, classical, jazz, some country, some pop, some rap. That would include; Blind Melon, Sheryl Crow, Pearl Jam, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, John Butler, Dave Matthews Band, Alanis Morrisette, Incubus, Amy Lee, The White Stripes, LP, Kings of Leon, Mumford and Sons, Matt Nathanson, STP, Audioslave, Florence and the Machine, Mariah Carey, The Civil Wars, and Tool, just to name some favorites. But it's not just favorite bands that shape our sound, we draw from anything we hear. From that horrible song from a commercial that gets stuck in your head to an 80's song on the radio that takes you back, it all ends up in our final product. Speaking of which, on top of our endless list of covers, we also have several original songs both completed and in the works. We are always exploring new music so you can never expect "the usual" lineup.
Samantha and/or The Banned are available for a wide-range of gigs and tailor our sound accordingly. Weddings, parties, fundraisers, family-friendly functions, memorial services & yoga classes, just to name a few.
