Being different is easier than ever in music these days considering that most artist follow a certain set of guidelines set in place by mega stars that came before them. In hip hop in particular, that means talking about and acting the same way the last "hot" artist did in order to cash in on whatever style, slang, or fashion, that made the original artist "hot". There for you have hundreds of thousands of rappers coming out with the same basic sound, style, and fashion. Here's where I come in. Me and other lyricists like me. We think outside of the very small and controlled box that hip hop has become , and we sound different, look different, and act different because we are not because we try to be. Me personally, I focus on rhyme creativity, cleverness, storytelling, and train of thought. Mix that with the right beat and perfect execution, and you're already different. Different is who you are not who you act like. I'm hip hop and I approve this message.
