Influenced by the music of Sarah McLachlan, John Mayer, and U2, Sherdonna creates a soulful and honest sound.
Originally from Atlanta, Georgia Sherdonna developed a love of singing and songwriting in college. She received a degree in clarinet performance and desired to be a symphony musician. In college she also learned to play the guitar so she could sing the songs she wrote. She continued to write music, sing, and play guitar because "it made me feel human," she says.
She released her first album, Ordinary Realities, in the fall of 2012 in which she wrote all of the songs, played acoustic guitar, sang, and co-produced it with a friend. "The songs on this project have been works in progress for about a decade with bits and pieces built here and there over time. The title “Ordinary Realities” comes out of a long deep struggle with trying to figure out how to be a creative person in the midst of a very ordinary life."
Sherdonna's voice is calming but strong, and her lyrics profound. She tries to capture the struggles of being human in her writing with unique honesty. She enjoys playing different types of venues as well. Whether an acoustic home concert, coffee house, or open mic, to a larger show with a full band she has a gift for connecting with a live audience.
