The Mad Anthonys are a jam trio from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and madness best describes their first year on the scene. With sixty plus shows on the East Coast, and sharing the stage with great touring acts like The Mike Dillon Band, E.O.T.O, Ethan Hamberg, Rumpke Mountain Boys, David Gans, The Mantras, Tony Holiday and The Velvetones, Big Something, Former Champions, Peoples Blues Band of Richmond, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, and Freeway Revival, it has been diversity that has put them in so many amazing situations. At the heart of The Mads is the rhythm section. Adam Austin (Phunk) has a background in many styles including being an accomplished award winning brass instrumentalist at a young age, before picking up his newest weapon of choice, bass. He brings the high dive to the deep end everytime. In the deep with Adam is Glacier Johnson on percussion. Last but not least, is The Mads Vocalist/Guitar player Christian Critzer (X-tian). A solo acoustic singer/songwriter pre The Mad Anthonys, he spent the last few years crafting lyrics with the help of a close friend and honing in his guitar ability. Original songs seeped in deep lyrics and catchy hooks with cutting edge cover tunes mashed in and a commitment of never playing the same set list twice make The Mad shows a sheer spectacle, complete with an psychedelic light show and live artists painting to the music. The Mads are known for more than a show, its a party!
