From the cornfields of Northwest Ohio, The Stairwell was born in the break-up of the local Christian Rock band, The Fall of Jericho. Lead vocalist and rhythm guitar player, Ben Vasko, decided to give it another shot, this time taking his musical pursuits in a slightly different direction. In December 2012, The Stairwell released “The Quiet EP,” a mellow, acoustic EP dwelling on the events and emotions of Ben’s life up to that point. This EP caught the eye of The Extreme Tour and he was invited to attend The Objective 2013 where met and received positive reviews from founder, Ted Bruun, Pastor Samme Palermo, and artist, Allan Aguire. After getting back into the concert scene, expanding his musical ability, and writing some fresh tunes, The Stairwell headed back to the studio in the summer of 2013, later releasing “The Loud EP.” As the name suggests, The Stairwell’s sophomore EP was a step away from “The Quiet EP.” As put by Bandblurb.com, “Driven by his powerful vocals and innate songwriting talent, the project has progressed from a mellower acoustic sound (The Quiet EP) to an aggressive alternative rock outfit featuring a full band (The Loud EP). The Loud [EP] sees Vasko… transforming and blossoming, trading in the mild-mannered guitar strumming for catchy leadlines, thumping percussion and crunchy riffs. Taking cues from contemporary alternative bands with a slight punky edge such as Anberlin, Sent by Ravens, Switchfoot, Relient K and others, The Loud [EP] is a brand new chapter for an artist with a bright future.” After local success and rave reviews, The Stairwell picked up momentum in the local concert scene, playing alongside bands such as Icon For Hire and has been scheduled to play with the band, Children 18:3. Since then, The Stairwell has been performing and writing many new songs and intends to hit the studio for his first full length record in the fall of 2014. While The Stairwell may have many accolades, the project is really about the music and its message. It is about the struggles that people face in their life. It is about the times when people have no one to rely on but God. It is about rising above the standards other have set. It is about hope. It is about love. It is The Stairwell.
