Quasheika Smith, also known as Sheika, is a R&B vocalist with a sweet mellow voice and a sweet smile to match. Coming out of Paterson, New Jersey, she has always enjoyed singing and writing music that hits close to home in her listeners, whether it be getting over a tragic break-up or being high off love. One of her quotes, "Failing is NOT an exception, and never will be," is one she firmly stands by. Only making it to the first round of the Black and Gold Idol Competition and not making it through the Fox 5's X Factor auditions certainly is not stopping Sheika from making hot tracks. Black and Gold Idol judges once said she reminds them of professional recording artist Monica, who is also one of her favorite artists, other than Keyshia Cole, who Sheika refers to as "her sister."
"All In The Way," Sheika's latest single to hit the streets, has a kind of back in the day, but at the same time, modern twist. She once again gave her listeners something to talk about. While she previously worked in a medical facility, she was the talk of the office. Her co workers seemed to be good at encouraging her talents by inviting her to karaoke nights and constantly giving her songs to playfully sing around the office. "My little star," they often called her.
"My only goals are to sing and do music," is one of the most common things for Sheika to say through out her school years, as singing has always been her passion. Her teachers would complain, but to a limit because they knew she was a hard worker and succeeded in everything she put her mind to. She's done school shows, competitions, open mics, and even community events. One of her most memorable moments is performing "Don't Take It Personal" by Monica back in grammar school with two of her old friends for the school's Fashion/Talent Show. "My voice was so strong I didn't even need a mic" she said. It was back in those days, when she first realized her love for performing and having a way with the crowd. One of her older tracks, "It's Up To You" ft. one of Paterson's local rap artists, is played throughout Jersey clubs and teen parties by local DJ's and featured on their mix-tapes as well.
This year is the year for Sheika to make her haters hate even more. Her sassy way of singing and her magnificent swag is one that will not be ignored. She continues to surprise her fans and give them more and more to talk about.
