This is rock and roll aimed squarely at people who value well-crafted songs that rock ferociously but never sacrificing the most sacred melody. It's power pop. it's garage, it's psychedelia, it's Stratocruiser. Hopelessly and irreverently out of step with the latest trends, Stratocruiser laces their happy rock sounds with hooks that are deep and wide and loud guitars that alternately are jangly and crunchy. Dollop on a heap of vintage keyboard textures (Hammond B3's, Mellotrons, electric pianos... mmm, creamy!) and this robust instrumental stew of sound deftly balances the melodic flair of songwriters Mike Nicholson & Clay Howard.
Nicholson & Howard are veterans of revered bands such as Bullwinkel Gandhi (whose 1996 release Kung Pow! was voted #71 in a list of the top 100 power pop albums of all time in a Swedish magazine article), The Doleful Lions, Barely White, Diggin' Taters, Bangers -n- Mash and more. Taking their cues from "all the good stuff from 1964 - 1979", Stratocruiser have recorded five full length albums since their inception in 2001. On top of those releases, Sratocruiser has released lots more material on singles, EP's, tribute records and movie and TV soundtracks. With a little help from people like Peter Holsapple from the dB's (and Hootie, and REM and the Continental Drifters) on keyboards, Robbie Rist, Lance Ashley, and guest spots by other rock luminaries, Stratocruiser has a more than impressive body of work.
Stratocruiser has toured the east coast of the USA many times and has played from NYC to Atlanta supporting and touring with such acts as World Party, The Upper Crust, Urge Overkill, The Makers, The Stills, Michele Malone, Colourmusic, Lez Zeppelin and more.
