The story of Burn the Poet actually goes back as far as 2000. Jeremy and Zach met on the schoolbus their freshmen year, brought together by an affinity for "The Mark Tom and Travis show" and armed with a $69 dollar guitar Jeremy had in his closet from his parents a few years earlier. they set out on the ardous journey of just learning how to play. After a well reviewed performance at the kingman high battle of the bands 2001 under the name "untitled" the band went it's seperate ways for a time. Zach left for Minnesota, The Beatles and hallucinegenics. but right before his departure there was one jam session with Crystal Gregory and Jeremy Lash, forming if only for a moment the core of what would be Burn the Poet...
Time passed in this way for 7 years. all members experimented with different projects and approachs all to lesser degrees of success. Zach participating and writing for several different groups as well as releasing a solo ep under the moniker "The Old Desert Road". fed up with playing solo acoustic shows and living a life with no distortion, he meandered west to be reunited with his past and his future. within 2 years Crystal and Zach were married and the band was already deep into writing what would later become "Something Worth Burning".
under the guise of "Henry" it was during this period that Burn the Poet truly began to take shape in every way but name, and then......They had a name.
Recording for Something Worth Burning began August 2011, completed june 22nd 2012. with the help of Carlton Becker Six string extroardinaire, Burn the Poet was able to finnally bring its vision into focus. though Carlton had departed just shortly before the album was released, his effect was profound and he remains a true friend to this day.
What does the future hold for Burn the Poet? It's hard to say. but we know this...it'll be an adventure.
