Shagpile / Bio

"Shagpile should be incredibly proud of the beautiful recordings captured on Outside In, and the album itself should serve as a standard to the singer/songwriters out there; this is how you do it right." Jer @ Sleeping Bag Studios, CA

The long anticipated fourth solo album ‘Outside In’, from Shagpile, will be released globally on the 12th July 2014. This intimate album is already receiving great reviews and attention from around the world. ‘Outside In’ is an emotional and heartfelt album that has taken two years to write, drawing on experiences of his life and the lives of those around him as a full time touring and working musician. Shagpile lets you into some parts of his life that nobody has seen or heard before. Some of the very talented musicians he has met along the way feature on the album, adding their musical magic and subtle sparkles to enhance a beautiful, melodic and genuine solo album, that takes you, with Shagpile, on his musical journey.

Jason (Shagpile) Vare was born in the heart of Northumberland, England, surrounded by a musical family, and this proud Northumbrian still lives in the area today. He picked up his first acoustic guitar at a very young age and was influenced by many different styles of music, this is evident in listening to his musical technique today. Shagpile has toured extensively both nationally and internationally, performing over 200 shows a year as part of the award winning duo, We Steal Flyers. In 2013 Shagpile performed at the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas, USA, he has also played alongside some fantastic acts such as, Miles Hunt, Tom Hingley, Chris Helme and Hayseed Dixie, plus many more.
