Scissorjack consists of Joseph Fuentes on vocals, Jake Lewis on guitars, Richard Perez bass guitar, and Bill Pehlivanian on the drums. The band has just released its debut EP, entitled The Scissorjack EP and plans to continue promoting the EP with live shows and talks of recording a full length album in 2013.
The beginning foundation of the band started many years back as the brain child of Scissorjack guitarist Jake Lewis. While playing drums for numerous bands over the span of 15 years, Jake took up the guitar as a hobby. It wasn’t long before he was writing songs with the guitar including using some of those songs in bands he was playing drums in. There came a day when Jake decided that he wanted to step out from behind the drum kit and strap on the guitar to play his own songs. He enlisted fellow friend and long time bandmate Richard Perez to jam on the bass. Richard and Jake shared the same vision in the band they wanted to make. Richard is responsible for persuading Jake to play guitar in the band and he is also the person who came up with the name of the band. The two began crafting songs and ironing out some of Jake’s initial songs. After putting out numerous ads for singers, Scissorjack enlisted Joseph Fuentes as the voice behind the band after a strong audition. Joseph is a veteran of the San Antonio music scene and with the strong and powerful voice they had been looking for, they knew they had found the right guy for the job. The band then needed a permanent drummer to fill out the roster. Many drummer searches and auditions came and went , until the guys ended the search with Bill Pehlivanian. Bill’s feel and sound brought in a new aspect to the band and Scissorjack was lineup was now complete. The band began solidifying the songs that would now end up on the debut Scissorjack EP.
