BRONX born, but without a hometown to claim, Ruby bounced from pillow to post growing up on the Lower East Side, Puerto Rico, Brooklyn, Harlem and Jersey City. With such a diverse background and raw talent at this lustrous gem’s disposal, it is not really surprising that Ruby hit it big from the very start.
Her first professional gig in the music business began as the voice of the Latin Bratz cartoon theme song titled Se Siente influencing a generation of children by ways of the LP Rock Angelz (Universal Music Group/Hipp-o Records), contributing her polished vocals to one of the highest selling cartoon albums internationally to date. Ruby, is also credited for contributions in Hip-Hop’s Soundscan battle between Kanye West and J. Cole, with background vocal performances on Born Sinner’s Crooked Smile, Born Sinner, Where's Jermaine Skit? and Trouble as well as #YEEZUS’ ("On Sight").
With success surrounding this hidden gem from NYC, Ruby decided to get on top of her momentum and release an EP titled ENTERMISSION, which landed her very first distribution deal with EONE. Driven by the groove of her song “Runway,” co-written with star writer Lil Eddie Serrano and celebrity producer EchoHITS, EONE decided to make this little pop gem her first single. During its first week of release, Ruby was added to more than 30 distributors, which is highly unlikely for an unknown artist and spotted number 15 on the iTunes R&B New & Noteworthy Chart. Since then, she has embarked on a promotional tour opening for artists like Keyshia Cole, Chrisette Michelle, Joe Thomas and Horace Brown, to name a few.
Who is the REMIX QUEEN…
In addition to promoting her single “Runway,” Ruby has been on a mission to promote women empowerment by creating female responses to some of the top male Hip Hop and R&B Songs. As a result, she’s been crowned the “Remix Queen” by her followers, after recording controversial remixes to songs like J. Holiday’s Bed. “Making you take back what you said, said, said, we’ll see who puts who to bed, bed, bed…” and Chris Browns’ Don’t Judge Me “Please don’t F* with me, and I won’t judge you, know that I can get ugly as much as I’m beautiful…” Fans of the original artists rant and rave about these remixes and make constant requests for Ruby to remake more songs. Hence, the release of The Remix Queen Vol. 1 Mixtape on datpiff.com, which generated 12K downloads and close to 5K streams and an upcoming Vol. 2.
