Originally a singer-songwriter duo (Sean Tansey and Allan Kinney) in search of an extended family of musical interpreters, Miss Polygamy officially came into existence when Arturo Portocarrero lent a hand with his virtuoso drumming in 2010.
Well-received at its debut "Spring Rite" show at the Avant-Garde in March 2011, Miss Polygamy has since enjoyed a string of live and on-line successes within and beyond Ottawa, Ontario. Bassist Nic Fobes held it down in latter 2011 before Nick Herzberg made a splash with the band at Zaphod's in March 2012.
Later that year, Jordan Hall transformed the ensemble into the supercharged quintet currently delighting a growing crowd of enthusiastic fans.
Taking influence from some of the legends (the Doors, Zeppelin, The Guess Who, Beatles, Muddy Watters, Deep Purple) and mixing in fresh sounds (Black Keys, Sheepdogs, Grizzly Bear, Yukon Blonde, Wilco, Zeus) - Miss Polygamy is sure to cater to even the most refined music aficionado
With the anticipation of their debut full length, scheduled for release in the summer of 2013, the band plans to hit the road and spread their music to as many people as possible.
"Miss Polygamy's vision is to continue in this polymorphous vein - to continue to grow and change with each new show and recording, reaching out to its audience with an ever more multi-limbed, perfumed love embrace."
