MHZ is an original retro rock/blues band of riff-crafting artists and philosophers from Long Island. The Megahertz Band sound is in constant evolution, clearly influenced by the great music of the late 60's and 70's, but without a doubt draws from a diverse sonic palette. MHZ's unique brand of transcendent rock and blues are deeply inspired by rock heroes like Hendrix, Zeppelin, the Allman Brothers, and Cream, but also Bob Marley, The Ramones, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and on and on... Formed in March 2012 (as MHZ5), the current MHZ lineup features Rob Cardone on lead vocals, Brent Hertz on lead guitar and harmonica, Vin Greco on rhythm guitar and vocals, Chris Yee on bass, and Ralphie Prisco on drums. Their colorful infusion of art and music paints spontaneous, creative landscapes of grooving jams and heavy riffing. MHZ released its first single, "The Protest Song," and B-side, "Running in the Rain," February 2015. Illustrating their range, the provocative "The Protest Song" is a hard-hitting throwback to a time when rock anthems stood for something while the thumping reggae beat of "Running in the Rain" is an acidic memory of young fleeting love. MHZ has played venues such as Revolution Bar, KJ Farrell's, Mr. Beery's, Sunset Grill, The Hub BC, and Jugs-N-Strokers, as well as benefits and backyard parties across Long Island.
