Some songwriters write 3-4 songs a week. That's not me. I have to ponder what and how to say it. I wrote my first song to my future wife in 1981 and her next song 30 years later in 2011. See what I mean?
I grew up in Oklahoma and, after college, moved to Georgia to manage a ranch. I broke horses, built fence and worked cattle to earn a living in those early years. A friend taught me 3 guitar chords and I’m proud to say I’ve doubled my chord repertoire since. Thank goodness for capos.
Like many of us, I was influenced by family and friends to pursue this hobby of songwriting more seriously. Recently I’ve been blessed to work with some outstanding professional instrumentalists and music producers. They’ve made these songs sound so much better than I ever could on my own. It’s pretty humbling.
If the dust ever settles, there’ll be a fun collection of songs for my heirs and just maybe, a song that will strike a familiar chord or memory for you.
