Underneath the layers of grime, crawfish shells and Mardi Gras beads, is an original band that is as vital as a compass to the direction of the Dallas/Ft.Worth music scene. To date, there has never been a band like the Zydeco Stingrays in the North Central Texas area—blending Cajun, zydeco, and rock like a second skin. Not only do they cop the essential Interstate-10 grooves, they shift it into overdrive to include rock, blues, reggae, dancehall, hip hop, and psychedelic rock in their aggregation. This eclectic combination, of everything 'which can change from one moment' of bluesy rock to an eruption of cane cutting zydeco, is delightfully documented on the tracks of their full-length recordings. Their latest release, "Uppercuts" helps further strengthen the group's evolution as a unique innovator in the local DFW music scene.
