Singer, Songwriter Extraordinaire
The Dirty Virgins is the brainchild of Stephanie Loveless (formerly Tom Ness). Steffie is a transsexual and wise advocate for the LGBT community. The vast experience she’s had in making the transition has opened up a floodgate of amazing music and lyrics reflecting the pain, heartache and societal bigotry she has had to endure to get to this point, her true self. Her stage performance is a mind-expanding live portrayal of her many self-produced CDs. Steffie's mantra, which inspires others as well as herself is, "Don't Let Your Dreams Get Dusty". She has certainly dusted off hers & is now living her dream.
TEAL MARIE – Guitarist
(aka MARK SCHNEIDER)
Teal began playing guitar in ninth grade after seeing Elvis on 'The Ed Sullivan Show'. “I knew then what I wanted to do,” she says. Teal played in various bands throughout her career, mainly groups in the 60's and 70's. She played with a Detroit outfit called 'Odds and Ends' gigging at such places as The Grande Ballroom which became a favorite venue.she says. She took a long hiatus for various reasons and after many years, “I began recording in my new home studio and discovered how much I missed playing. “I am having the time of my musical life right now playing with Steffie and the Dirty Virgins.”
Teal is transgender.....”Now I can combine this lifestyle with my music...this whole process allows me to express the different facets of my life in one package (wink).
JEFF ADAMS - Guitarist
Jeff, born and raised in New York City started playing the piano at the age of 7 and picked up the guitar at 11…..”just to spite my sister as she wouldn’t teach me how to play.”
His style is recognizable. He got the writing bug at 14 and founded “Eleven Twenty-One” with some notable New York area musicians. He hooked up with Steffie Loveless in 2009 and has never looked back. “I love playing Steffie’s music. If I didn’t I wouldn’t be involved.” Jeff is a big supporter of the LGBT community believing that “everyone should be able to be who they are without any restraints and Steffie’s lyrics reflect that which is why I am here!”
TREVOR VASHER – Drums
Trevor is now the drummer and despite being the youngest in this eclectic group, at 23, he has already been playing Detroit area venues since 2007. He originally joined as the bass player but due to some necessary changes, wanted to move back to drums which was his first instrument and true love. He joined Steffie and the Dirty Virgins on a whim, and has been enjoying the diverse and fun style that the group possesses.
Trevor’s energy and spot-on chops rounds out the DV’s and like the rest of the group believes that “everyone is an individual and should be respected on the merit of their individuality as a whole!”
BROOKS DEIHL - Bass
Brooks has been playing music since the age of 15 when he took the first two paychecks he ever earned and bought his first bass. "I wanted to play. It's the only reason I wanted to get a job. When asked about Steffie and the Dirty Virgins, Brooks said the decision to join was easy. "I feel that it's very important to play with a band that can't be ignored. You may love 'em, you may not, but you sure as f**k can't ignore them"
MONA LAGROAN- Background Vocals
Mona (Veronica) grew up in a very artistic household. Music was a part of Mona's daily life since the day she came home from the hospital. Her home was filled with music of all sorts, from Mozart and Verdi, to Tito Puente and Celia
to Tito Puente and Celia Cruz. After working on a video for a local rock band, and through her friendships with other musicians, she found herself surrounded by "Dirty Virgins" and figured, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!"
