We are Jeff Pasbrig (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Jim Mellor (vocals, electric guitar), Tom House (bass), and D Ion (drums/percussion). Having first met in their local church, Jeff and Jim have been playing music together for over 25 years. We feel our music reflects our devotion to melody, sincerity in lyrics, and quality arrangement. All of us grew up and currently live in Minnesota. (...still plenty of gravel roads out where we are!)
Gravel Roads was officially formed during the summer of 2012 while competing in a national country music talent contest, the Texaco Country Showdown. Jeff and Jim made it to the Mn state finals as a duo and decided at that point to further pursue their musical interests. After writing songs together for so many years, we felt it was time to share our music with a wider audience. We began recording our first (self-titled) cd in the summer of 2012 and are preparing for a 2013 release.
Jeff is the lead song writer and his lyrics are always hopeful and provoke oneself to look for answers in this life with our spirit, soul, and heart...yet the words remain simple and uncomplicated. Jeff has been writing songs and playing guitar for over 25 years building up quite a catalog of original music.
Jim has been playing guitar for over 35 years. He was involved with several cover bands playing classic 70’s music in the early years and now plays acoustic or electric lead guitar with his church’s worship band. His guitar style is strongly influenced by the great blues guitarists he grew up listening to (Duane Allman, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, etc.) and transferring that sound to the arrangements in our own music brings back that traditional country guitar tone and melody that adds to the simplicity of the music and sound.
D has been involved in music for well over 30 years having toured in the southern U.S. with several bands during the 70's and early 80's. Tom also has decades of experience on bass. Both D and Tom joined Gravel Roads in the spring of 2013 and add a unique blend of traditional musicianship and talent.
Feeling led by God and encouraged by friends and family, we are truly blessed with the gift of music we enjoy so much. We have no illusions as to where it might lead and continue to write and play for the joy of just doing it. Together we strive to bring back that traditional country sound, and as musicians, prefer the innocent and clean sound of an older style of country music. There is nothing flashy or bold in our music. We aren’t trying to be or create anything more than just what it is...country. And, what could be more country than rolling along one of those old “gravel roads”!
