The current line up of The Red Light Commandos assembled February 2013.
Lead vocalist Sammy Pond is easily recognized by his folky lower octave, a light timbre on higher notes with occasional emotionally charged grittiness. He is also recognized for his open vowel sounds, mixture of vocal textures, natural vibrato and ability to sustain notes for an extended period of time.
Lead Guitarist Josh Mikesell is a youthful child-prodigy. With slides, tremolo, hammer-ons n' pull-offs, bends and triads he incorporates a classic bluesy element to the music. Well versed in guitar theory, he has an infinite level of creativity and diversity in his playing style. He is only 17, but this kid has got 40 year-old soul- and he has got the blues.
Bassist Colton Anderson puts the sex in bass as far grooving can go. Jazzy walking, bass chord fusions, and he can pop dat funk. It's so sexy, it should be illegal. Fortuitously we live in 'Merica so his skillz are protected by the constitution. He has a trained ear for tone and contributes an experienced understanding of the dynamics in song writing.
Drummer Bryan Rieben fortifies the jazzy element in The Red Light Commando's sound. He implements subtleties into his beats that only the trained listener can attend to and appreciate. From sizzling hot high-hat work to clever beats, he sure puts a velvet bow on the package and pulls everything together.
