Where are you originally from?
Born in Vancouver where I lived till I was 7. Then my family moved to Richmond where I've grown up. In terms of ethnicity My Dad is Rotuman mixed with some Native Fijian and a little Samoan, My Mom is Welsh mixed with Scottish and 'Canadian'(lol).
When did you realize you wanted to get into music?
Both sides of my family are very musical everyone sings and dances, it's something that I've grown up with. I've been singing ever since I could talk. The day I realized I wanted music to be my life was the day one of my moms dear friends asked us to sing at her brothers bed side in the hospital knowing he was very ill.He had been in all sorts of pain and was very weak but after we sang to him he was relaxed and peaceful as was the rest of there family that was there with us. As we were leaving he told us how grateful he was to have heard us singing and how touched he was everyone was crying. After that day I knew music was what I wanted to do, God gave me a beautiful gift that I want to share with the world. I want to be able to touch peoples hearts and stir there souls with music for the rest of my life be it in a small room in front 5 people, or in stadiums in front of millions.
What are your aspirations and Goals?
I strive everyday to be a better me in everything I do. Singing is my passion, I would love to wake up every morning doing what I love. In the mean time I’m working on my plan 'B' too. I'm currently going to school for nursing on top of working on my music. When it comes to music in the short term I’m working on strengthening my song writing on my own and by collaborating with other artists. I’m also hoping to start performing more in different venues around Vancouver in hopes that it will lead to the possibility of touring and opening for other well known artist. I really want people to hear my music. My ultimate aspirations are to be the best that I can be for myself and my fans, to be a positive role model, and to make the best music I can in hopes that people can relate, that it touches their souls. I want to change the world through my music.
What are your Influences?
In terms of artists of the top of my head; Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, Boys II Men, Usher, Prince, Michael Jackson, Christina Aguilera, Keyshia Cole, Mary J Blige, Lauren Hill ... the list could go on forever lol
When it comes to writing; My life. The things I've been through or are going through, heartbreak, struggle, success, failure, anything that makes me feel some kind of emotion.
How would you define your sound/style?
Sound/style: Me lol. I really don't know how to define my sound or style. If you ask my friends and family they say I sounds unique, or "like an angle" that when I sing it's clear, pure, and sweet. They most often compare me to Alicia Keys
Who are Meaningful people in your life that helped you out or supported you?
First and for most God. Everything I've done, everything I've accomplish is because of Him. Without a doubt in my mind without God I wouldn't be where I am today. My whole family, my mom Sheila, dad John, my brothers Kaprieli and Tomasi, my grandmother Helen, all my aunts, uncles, cousins, my friends, and other artist I've collaborated with. But I think it's also important to note the people who told me that I couldn't do it, I would never be anything, that I would fail at everything I do, and the people who are constantly trying to tare me down. Those are some of the people that have helped me out most because they are constantly pushing me to better my best, they've helped thicken my skin, and they've showed me that the only person who loses in the end is me if I let them win. My haters are some of my biggest supporters and I thank them and appreciate them for helping me strive for greatness. Not everyone is going to like you and in this business you're going to face tons of rejection and criticism. You can't let those moments define you. You just have to brush it off and continue to chase your dreams.
