Keith Askins is a multi-genre professional independent bass player who is currently on tour with Neo-soul & Pop artist SuCh. He is the Music Director for R&B artist Rellion and when at home keeps the low end groove for smooth jazz artist Tony Exum Jr., he can also be found performing weekly with Neo-soul Thursdays house band Soul Expression at 1 of Denver’s premier music venues. He also performs throughout the year with or shares the stage in conjunction with various national & local artists at jazz and music festivals. Whether Keith is laying down the groove in Hip-Hop, Neo Soul, Gospel & R&B, or taking a melodic solo on the Smooth Jazz stage Keith is sure to take the audience and his listeners on a musical journey that will keep their bodies moving feet tapping and fingers snapping.
His career has given him the opportunity to perform and share the stage with several artists, including Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, Kim Burrell, Dave Hollister, Marvin Sapp, Crystal Aiken, Juanita Bynum, Method Man, Red Man, Floetry, Chico Debarge, SuCh, Tim Bowman, Tony Exum Jr, Darren Rahn while holding down the bottom end on the Heavenly Sent tv broadcast on the Word Network and 2 local stations
Keith debuted as a new artist on the Main stage at the 2009 Breckenridge Jazz & Winefest and in 2010 Keith received Bassist of the year for the Arts of the Gospel Award in Colorado.
