BrayLay Da Bitniz / Bio

BrayLinn Ra-Shahn Simmons whom goes by the stage name BrayLay Da Bitniz, was born February 12,1990 at Brackenridge hospital In Austin,TX. He is the youngest of three brothers and a half sister. As a child he grew up on the north-side of Austin on the corner of Rundberg and Northgate ,an area synonymous in the late 80's and early 90's with heavy drug-crimes, and gang-violence, in the Northgate Housing Projects. At the age of 3, Braylinn and family moved to Ft.Pierce, FL. They would move between the states for most of his childhood eventually settling back home in Austin at the age of 9.

In 2004, he met up with local hip-hop performer KJ Hines through a family friend, and they recorded a 3 track demo together in fall of 2004. Beginning as a Christian/Hip-Hop group ,they revamped their style to form an R&B/Hip-Hop duo entitled "KJ and Bray", Austins answer to Atlanta Hip-Hop group OutKast, performing at local venues around Austin and Houston,Texas. In late 2004 KJ's father and manager formed the local independent label called "DAP Records" signing BrayLinn and KJ to their first recording contract. In spring 2005 they released their Album entitled "Success" to then radio station 93.3 and got their song entitled "Bounce", played on a nightly segment called 'More or Out the door'. Due to the fact that they were an independent act, their song could not be played on a mainstream radio station in normal rotation.

Their song caught the attention of Houston artist Mike Jones, and his label Ice Age Entertainment. After a series of meetings and discussion they were close to signing with Ice Age Ent.

From 2005 to 2009, very little was heard from BrayLinn on the Austin music-scene, eventually dropping out of high school at 17. He began recording with local producer/rapper K-mart of "beat-citi productions" from 2006-2008, collaborating with him on a song for his "The Wait" album in 2008.

In 2009 after a losing his job, car, and being arrested on disorderly conduct charges, he was introduced by a mutual friend at a house-warming party, to Andy "Dunny TX" Galindo. They later met up and recorded a summer-themed song titled, "Summer Days" for Dunny's "Same Shit, Different Day" album, as well as collaborating with fellow artist affiliated with his "Get Money Boy Records" label calling themselves "Untouchables" on their track called "Hold You Down" . This, solidified the partnership between him and Dunny TX with his Get Money Boy Label, and BrayLinn, who had began going by his nickname "BrayLay", adding 'Da Bitniz' in 2007.

In 2010 after a haitus of about 5 years, his first,self-produced mix-tape called 'Unfinished-Bitniz", later featuring in the Dunny TX track "She Got Money" for his 2010 album "Forever Me".
After much discussion and anticipation, In 2011, Bray released his 2nd mix-tape, "Strictly Bitniz Vol.1" following up with the Dunny TX track for his 'I killed Ur Beats Vol.2" Mix-tape. In the fall of 2011 he featured with Dallas artist Quarter Qui and Dunny TX, in a remix to Kanye West and Jay-Z's, "O.T.I.S"(On That Independent Shit). In March 2012 he dropped his 3rd Mix-tape entitled "The High School Drop Out Mix-Tape", influenced by Kanye West's "College Dropout" album.
