Dream Circle is a electronic/world/hip-hop band formed in Brooklyn in 2011 by Katy Walker & Joel Mejia. The trio is made up of Katy Walker (lead vocals, keys, production), Nikkie Bliss (vocals) and Joel Mejia (drums, production). Their music is an eclectic, genre-bending journey into electronic, house, hip-hop, dub reggae and African music. Walker, who is originally from Austin,TX, met Mejia, the second generation Dominican and Bronx, NY native, while producing a music video and playing for another band. Their debut album LOST ART was released in 2013 on Unemployable Music, their indie label. The album’s stand out tracks are “So Many Things”, “Dreams, “Hurricane” and the dub reggae infused “Original”.
“I am extremely grateful to have received these messages of universal love and consciousness,” says Mejia about their first collection LOST ART. “It may sound esoteric, but music is magical. It doesn’t come from a place that we typically have access to unless we open ourselves up. We did just that and received this music. We wanted it to uplift people and have a vibratory effect on them. It’s not casual listening, but active listening,” he adds.
The band records & performs as a trio, follow us via twitter for more info. We are currently writing and recording our 2nd album, tentatively titled “Planet Art”. We are also getting ready to release “So Many Things Remixes” this summer.
