Ivory Skies is an up-and-coming piano rock band out of Carmel, IN. Fusing pop and rock melodies, Ivory Skies develops a sound that will make you want to sing along to every song.
Ivory Skies got its start through a simple Craigslist ad. Blaine Gaiser (Lead Vocals, Acoustic Guitar) was looking to start a piano-based pop/rock group in the vein of The Fray & Gavin DeGraw. With a little time Glenda White (Piano, Vocals) & Mike Stilts (Bass Guitar, Backing Vocals) answered the ad. After the addition of Glenda and Mike, A.J. Castor (Drums) joined the group after seeing a post by Blaine on Facebook.
The band got together and started writing original material all while familiarizing themselves with one another’s playing styles through classic and modern covers. The band gelled immediately but, all agreed, the sound was missing that special something. Upon deciding to add a lead guitarist, they auditioned and contacted many players to no avail. Finally, Tony Winters (Lead Guitar) was added to the band. Blaine and Tony had known each other for some time and had previously played in a band together.
After a few practices, the band went into the studio to record their first E.P. Soon after, (in only their second live performance) the band had the opportunity to open at Klipsch Music Center for Kelly Clarkson, The Fray, and Carolina Liar in September 2012. Since then, the band finished in second place on 11/1/12 for Alternative Addiction's Next Big Thing, competed in Q95 and X103's Indy's Next Big Thing Battle of the Bands, winning their Preliminary Round and competing in The Finals @ The Vogue on 11/30/12, was interviewed on Q95's Bob & Tom Show on 11/19/12, and was featured as X103's Band of The Week from 11/19/12 - 11/25/12. You can occasionally catch an Ivory Skies original or two on X103's X-Files - on air every Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
