Ella Dars is a (mostly) acoustic band based in Philadelphia whose beautiful songs emanate bittersweet melancholy that you can dance to. The band emerged from the longtime friendship of singer/guitarist Susan Rosetti and multi-instrumentalist Steve Margulis, who worked together in the 1990’s bands Boy Boy Nova and Cory. After the breakup of Cory, Susan went on to enjoy regional success with the bands Stargazer Lily and Slo-Mo, while Steve pursued his interest in bluegrass and old-time music. Through the years, they maintained their friendship and when Susan lined up her first solo gig, she called on Steve to join her. They brought in bassist Brad Haberle, whom Steve had met in local bluegrass circles, and Mike Blanche, the original drummer in Cory. Together, they create a sensual and original sound that is characterized by mandolin, ukulele and banjo and distinguished by Susan’s alluring voice and haunting melodies.
