Jerry started the piano at the age of 5 years old with the help of his father who is a well-known guitarist from mauritius. He clearly showed facilities in grabbing musical information and within a year , he was already on stage playing his 1st gigs with some local bands and choirs . He always has considered himself as being self -taught despite the fact that he was introduced to classical theory at the age of 11. His father has a real passion for jazz standards and Jerry caught that disease when he was 12 years old and with the help of the late great Mr, Ernest Wiehe , mauritian, who was a retired professor at the Berklee academy in Boston U.S.A, Ernest was animating free master classes every saturday morning for young musicians so that they discover the richness of jazz and improvised music and Jerry would never miss one of those classes.
The turning point happened in 2001, fellow mauritian Linley Marthe , ` one of the most creative and talented bass player nowadays `' according to Basse magazine France was on his holiday trip to Mauritius when he came across Jerry in a jam session. He was impressed by his natural talent on the piano and advised him that if he really wants to play music at its highest , he needs to move to Paris to study with the best teachers in Europe. Jerry followed his advice and when he obtained his A levels one year later , he decided to go to Paris for this wonderful journey,
A week was not over since he footed Paris that Jerry was already on stage playing his 1st gig. He started his studies in music and received his end of course diploma after 3 years. His full time piano teacher was Emil Spanyi, a versatile and expericienced piano player.
Jerry has not left the stage since, mastering acoustic and electronic keyboards not to mention hammond organs and fender rhodes.
Jerry's favorite activity is to support emerging artists and always trying to innovate and find new sounds and accents.
Jerry has been in 2007 the special guest of Blues dan Jazz festival held in Mauritius where he played with his original trio Jhonny Joseph , mauritian drummer settled in Shanghai and fellow bass player Fred Grenade.
He has played or arranged on 13 albums released in France in different styles.
At 28 years old, Jerry 's new adventure is the Piano Solo performance.
He has already performed on solo piano in different jazz clubs in Paris.
He won the 3rd prize in the famous International Jazz Piano solo competition in Montreux Switzerland where he played in front of a jury directed by Mr, Tommy Lee Puma, a music producer in the U.S.A , who has worked with George benson , Yellowjackets , Diana Krall etc ;;;
