The band that would eventually become Welker began in the summer of 2002 in Bradford, Pennsylvania. Muzz had scheduled a gig with his friend Blake Cohen at a bar called Randy's on the River. Muzz and Blake assembled a band 3 days prior to the gig through the help of a co-worker who found them a drummer named William Null. After playing their one gig under the name Blue Marvel, Muzz and William decided to form their own band in the spring of 2003. William recruited his friend Cody, and Muzz brought his friend Aron. The group played a couple gigs under different names, until they finally settled on Welker. In the spring of 2005, Muzz and William decided to move to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Aron eventually decided to come too. Fortunately, they moved next door to Blake Tressler, who joined the group as bassist. William eventually left the band to pursue other interests, but the band has steadily increased their gig experience, sharing the stage with several national acts such as The Burden Brothers, Halestorm, Rev Theory, Ryan Star and Marcy Playground. The band also won the 717 Music Award for Best Rock Band in 2012.
