Five years of piano lessons, a series of soirées with an acoustic guitar, and a great deal of quality time spent with her pen and notebook until the early hours of the morning drew out of Darien Clea. an inexorable desire to make music. Songwriting is not merely an outlet or pastime for this young visionary, but her primary means of conversation.
Nearly a decade of consistent creative writing, studying, and performing has refined Darien Clea.'s musicianship into a mature giftedness. An interest in music that was sparked during her childhood in small-town Oklahoma eventually led her to Memphis, Tennessee to study Songwriting and Audio Production at Visible Music College. It was in Memphis that she met renown producer Dennis Herring and began to share song demos with him over the next couple years. After Clea finished school, Herring invited her to record an EP at his studio in Oxford, Mississippi. What evolved out of their collaboration at Sweet Tea Studio is an album that has as much sentiment as it has moxie. With vocals that are warm, radiant and airy, and instrumentation that is bold, rhythmic, and convincing, Darien Clea. adds to the music scene a style best described as Adult-Alternative with Classical piano roots. Her music is addictively melodic and voyages through all the hearts territories with whimsy and sincerity. Insightful and honest, with both heartache and hopefulness, Darien Clea. is a refreshing reminder that all good music must start with a good song. She has performed alongside artists such as Never Shout Never, Paper Route, The Listener, and Carolina Story. Based in Springfield, Missouri, she will be touring across America to promote her self-titled debut EP.
"There is something to be said about singer/songwriters who craft songs that are careful and descriptive stories, these artists who create and play…matter. Darien’s voice is stunning." -Chris Burns, CB Publishing
