The Chance Brothers Band is Bruce Coe (SlightChance) and Rob Witte (SlimChance) on acoustic guitars and upright bass respectively. Songs that are long on content and short on fluff. People say that there’s a lot of music coming from these two guys and it’s true. The Mighty CBB puts down some notes. Check out some of the tunes as you read on.
Bruce talks about the Chance Brothers, “I really like to write in different styles or genres. We do everything from jazzy-folky and ballads to straight out blues and black-hat country, thus the Americana tag, since everyone seems to want a classification to refer to. That’s the Chance Brothers, a wide range of material and styles with the common thread of good stories and well played music.”
Says Rob, “We walk the line between technology and pure wooden music. These songs pass the 'campfire test'. That is to say that they sound great done purely acoustic & sung around a campfire - and that is the mark of good songs in my opinion.”
The Chance Brothers story began with The Outriders, a critically acclaimed country/cowboy band that performed in several iterations until 2008. The band charted a few songs, played a lot, and then everybody moved on.
After bouncing around for a few years independently Bruce and Rob got together again in 2011 and started to form the basis of what is The Chance Brothers Band. It’s mission - stripped down music, lyrical content, songs that paint pictures or might be a movie script. Fun and thoughtful, well played and well executed. A little different and a little new. A good chance.
