Isaiah ‘7Tre’ Jefferson was born and raised in the inner city of Chicago. Ill. His father is a former U.S. Marine and his mother was a home-maker. 4 brothers and 4 sisters for a total of 9 children by his mother…Amazing! Somehow, he was the 3rd oldest and also the 7th child of the 9. Later in life he used that discovery to name himself. “I figured that I’d represent my family and myself which consisted of my mother and her 9 children. There were the10 of us. So I called myself ‘7Tre’. I represent the goodness of The Lord Jesus and my family!” Growing up he recalls his grandmother listening to music almost always. “The same music that she listened to over 20 years ago is the same music that I love to hear today. Thanks in part to my wife.’’ He laughs. 7Tre explains that he was and wasn’t “brought up” in church. “My step pops tried to keep us in a church. I wanted to go regularly once I saw the “church girls”. They were banging!” “But seriously, after awhile I wanted to know what all the fuss was about. Why were people lifting their hands, falling out, dancing with fast feet, crying, screaming, etc.”
“When I think about it, someone was praying earnestly for me.” 7Tre humbly admits that he can’t remember having any role models or positive influences as a youngster. With a gaze like hunted prey right before it is killed he adds, “But I did have hope. It never left my side! It must have been given to me by The Lord Almighty! I’ve always believed there was a God; I just didn’t know anything about Him.” Fast forward to today, The Lord literally called Isaiah 7Tre Jefferson to His saving grace at the tender age of 21. “I thought that I was fixing to PART Why? Because I gotta! I love Jim Curry in The Mask.”
No sir! He was called to serve in the army of The Lord Almighty! At the age of 25, he remembers: “I was cleaning for a buddy of mines while thinking about what am I to do for the rest of my days. Thoughts of my siblings had arose; How we would beat on walls rhythmically and make up rap songs. I had written a few poems in elementary school. I remembered how after I finished reading a rhyme to my 7th grade class, I received an applause like never before!” At that very moment is when 7Tre felt something in the pit of his belly. He knew beyond any doubt that his call in life was in the music industry.
Not knowing all of the details of God’s plan, without hesitation he started on his journey. The year was 2005. Every since, The Lord has been perfecting the work that He began on the inside of Isaiah. 7Tre teamed up with 2 of his brothers to form the musically gifted trio, V.S. (Versus). Beat production for this album comes from the Trio. “I’m influenced by all rappers not glorifying The Lord Almighty…I aim to show you how we do it in The Kingdom of God Almighty. Which shall remain forevermore!”
