Jon Gonzales showcases ukulele rhythms, kazoo-buzzings, and original indie-pop diddies from his first solo album, Water 'n Whiskey. Accompanied by bassist, singer and producer, Michael Lindner, Jon has created original melodies in conjunction with the ukulele's magical charm and chimey plings, bringing forth a style true to his influences (u2, Dylan, Stones, Sublime), providing a hook-folkish pulse. Expect an occasional ukazooke-instrumental 80's tune to offset the newly-hatched songs.
Jon Gonzales eminates upbeat, positive, feel-good music from his album Water 'n Whiskey. Fellow musicians include JG (ukulele), Bill Iberti (mandolin), and Michael Lindner (bass), and on special occasion, the Bootleg Honeys' Hannah Jern-Miller (vocals/tambourine).
The Press Democrat describes JG as "the only musician we've ever come across that can make music you want to hear that includes a kazoo and a ukulele, to add some silliness to his awesomeness". Notable performances from 2013-14 include the Big Bash Hootenanny, Real Music Vol. 3 Release Celebration, KRSH backyard concert, the Rivertown Revival, Pre-Earle Fest, and most recently, the Johnny Downer Memorial Celebration.
An English teacher-by-day, Mr. Gonzales has a fancy for anything Tom Robbins, Khalil Gibran, Barbara Kingsolver, Paolo Coelho and/or Willie Nelson, who've all helped induce Jon's own blend of diction 'n melody, imagination 'n realism, water 'n whiskey, buzz 'n chime, and the plight of the human paradox.
