The Boxcar Cadavers / Bio

Formed in 2004 as "Lefty McRighty and the Boxcar Cadavers", the band spent the next couple of years playing regularly around the Ottawa/Montreal/Toronto area, hitting most of the major live music venues including (but not limited to) Barrymore's, Dominion Tavern, Maverick's, The Rainbow, Babylon, Irene's, Cafe Dekcuf, Zaphod's (Ottawa), L'Escogriffe, Cafe Chaos, Bar St. Laurent 2, Playhouse, Barfly (Montreal), and The El Mocambo, The Cadilac Lounge, and The Cameron House (Toronto). In June 2006 they released their self-titled debut album on their own Weeping Wound Records label to great response from both fans and critics alike. However, by January 2007 it had become clear that Lefty and the rest of the band were no longer headed down the same musical path, and Lefty decided to leave the band to pursue his solo interests. Eager to strike out in a more aggressive musical direction but exhausted from three years of non-stop work, the Boxcars (drummer Boxcar Porkchop Infidel and bassist Luka-Jo Cadaver) took a short rest to gather their thoughts, and their new guitarist/frontman-Scotty SickFuck (ex-Whorenuns, ex-Pegleg), before settling in to begin writing new material. (It should be noted that a couple of other singers were tried out, but at the end of the day it was obvious that Scotty was the best man for the job). Now, having taken the time to distance themselves from any previous notions of what the band was about, Capital City's Kings of Cowpunk have returned with their second full-length album "Tits 'N' Blood". This collection of nine new original tunes, and a cover of the Dayglo Abortions classic "Fuck My Shit Stinks", marks the next step in the evolution of these Honky Tonk Metal pioneers. Losing the acoustic guitar, maintaining their spirit of simplicity, and always wondering what it would have sounded like if Stompin' Tom and The Ramones had ever recorded an album together, the band has expanded on the standard cuntry themes of drinking, fighting and fucking to cover such topics as the plight of a group of zombie hobos (Whistle a Tune of Madness), and the joys of making a snuf film (Tits 'n' Blood). The songs on the new album represent the Boxcar Cadavers as they were always intended to be. This is TRUE CANADIAN HONKY TONK METAL..... ...... .."[Boxcar Cadavers] have ramped up the raunch and transformed themselves into the best honky-tonk post-metal punk band in the capital." - Denis Armstrong (The Ottawa Sun).. ...... ...... ...... ...... .... ..Listen to the Boxcar Cadavers in CKCU's "Ottawa Live Music" archives, from January 15th, 2009
